The legal timeline
| Date | Development | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 22 August 2025 | The PROG Act became Act No. 32 of 2025. | It established the national statutory framework and prohibited offering online money games, their advertising and related fund transfers. |
| 22 April 2026 | Rules and implementation notifications were published. | The operational framework, authority and classification process were set out. |
| 1 May 2026 | The Rules came into force. | The 2026 framework became operational according to the Government of India notice. |
What the framework prohibits
Official government summaries describe a complete prohibition on online money games, including games based on chance, skill or a combination of both when money or other stakes are involved with an expectation of winnings. The framework also prohibits advertising or facilitating those games and processing related funds.
A label such as “skill game,” “real game” or “cash Teen Patti” should therefore not be treated as an automatic exemption.
What this means for the Teen Patti category
| Product or claim | Practical reading |
|---|---|
| Teen Patti played with deposits, stakes or cash prizes | Falls within the highest-risk category and should not be promoted, facilitated or presented as lawful merely because strategy is involved. |
| Free-play or social Teen Patti | May be assessed as an online social game when it does not involve staking money or monetary winnings, but the exact product design and official classification matter. |
| Advertisements, rankings and download guides | Information pages should avoid facilitating prohibited money-game participation, disclose commercial relationships and remove guaranteed-income or easy-withdrawal claims. |
| Payment and UPI claims | Banks and payment intermediaries are covered by fund-transfer restrictions for prohibited online money games. |
Our editorial position after the Act
Play Teen Patti Master is an independent information website. We do not operate real-money games, receive player stakes, process withdrawals or accept commission for ranking placement. We are not affiliated with SBI or the SBI YONO banking app.
We retain rules and safety content for educational use, but regulatory, cash-game and withdrawal claims require current official support. A page that explains a term is not an endorsement of a real-money product.
